Reading the Bible Together – Day 3

DAY 3

Sadly, the Devil still subtly questions what God has said. Then, he replaces the truth with a lie! Help us, Father, stand firmly in truth!

A.M. Reading: Genesis 3:1-8

Our readings are brief today so that time may be spent really focusing on truth found here.

Genesis Questions Worth Pondering:

Scripture later identifies the serpent found in this passage as the Devil and Satan. How is he described?

What method did he use to deceive the woman?

Who did the woman believe – God or the Devil?

How did her belief affect her action?

How did her action affect her husband?

After their disobedience, what immediately changed between them?

And sadly, how did they respond to God?

How many ways can you think of where the Devil (and the world) is questioning what God has said in His Word? What lies has he replaced the truth with? Are any of those lies affecting your life? Your relationship with others? Your relationship with God? How does what you believe affect your actions?

Think deeply on these truths, and spend time in prayer. These may seem like heart-wrenching questions. But God already knows. Be honest before Him. We can never really hide from Him.

P.M. Reading: John 1:29-32

John Questions Worth Pondering:

Look back over your list of who Jesus is.

Now we discover one of the most magnificent names which Jesus is called.

What does John boldly proclaim? Add that name to your list.

What will this Lamb of God do?

The Old Testament clearly taught about the necessary sacrifices of a lamb for the forgiveness and removal of sin. These Jewish people to whom John was speaking clearly understood the law and sacrifices.

Now it is being made known that Jesus would be that true sacrifice.

And, truly, He is the only one who can take away our sin!

Deep truth! How we ALL need Him!

May the Word of Christ dwell richly within!
